Globus

Globus hystericus is a sensation of a lump in the throat. I've had globus sensation since my noon clinic session today from trying to make a male chauvinistic pig to understand (pun not intended) . Understand the disease process and understand the system. I'm nowhere in the administration hierarchy. Please don't ask me to change the system. I was there to help but I've utilised my patience to the max. The days are getting longer and my patience is wearing thinner. Quoting Ms S' can-do attitude with her tagline 'can can can' usually lifts my spirit but I'm not so optimist at the moment. My tagline is now 'how how how'? *sigh* 'Persevere persevere persevere lah'

Drug talk

In the medical line, we sometimes refer medicine as a drug. Or a proper word is pharmacotherapy. When I said to non-medical personnel that I have to attend a drug talk, I will usually get a blank stare and a look of astonishment in return. Before the question of ethics arise, I will usually explain that drug is actually medicine that we use to treat patients and drug talk is a talk organized by a drug company about a particular brand of medicine and its uses.

Last Saturday, I attended a drug talk in Hotel Nikko. The food was great! haha.. ok the talk was great too. I bumped into my uni-mate, who is currently the medical advisor for the company. He is currently not seeing patients and earning big bucks. He is happily settled in his current job while we continue our years of slavery (pun intended!). But don't get me wrong, I'm happy for him. Anyway, the speakers were two distinguised professors; one from Harvard University and the other from National University of Singapore.

At the end of the talk.. there was the Q&A session and moi asked a question. It was well received. If I were a guy, I would be labelled as a male chauvinistic pig because this is what the entry is all about. Moi asked a question :p

Surgeries

Had a productive day at work today. The day started off with tonsillectomy done by moi, a bit jittery due to lack of practice; not by choice though - the operation theater was closed for 2 months. Then had a nose procedure on another patient; TIT (trimming of the inferior turbinates). I did the left side and my colleague, K did the right. In the afternoon had an ear procedure - called M&G (myringotomy and grommet insertion) which is loosely translated as making a hole in the ear drum and putting a ventilation tube in place to drain the middle ear fluid. As before, I did the left side and K did the right. That was my first M&G and it went well. Thankfully.

I am thankful to my ENT surgeons, Mr H and Ms M for allowing us to actually perform those procedures and my sincere gratitude for your patience in teaching us!

Thank you and thank you. I'll make an effort to read up more to be a better student, Insya-Allah!

Oh, just received a call.. better get ready because someone's going to watch Mamma Mia the movie with a significant someone :p. Tickets courtesy of the radio station light and easy.

If my memory serves me right

It is only 9.30 pm but I'm soo sleepy! Think I'll sleep early today. Have to make sure I arrive early to work tomorrow. Hmm.. but something is not right. Something important is happening tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I have to read up something just to be prepared for the onslaught of questioning; which is the norm in the medical world. Quote 'We should never stop studying' unquote. What IS going on tomorrow??? HELP.. my memory is soo bad.

OH I JUST REMEMBERED. Tomorrow is Nuzul Quran and it's a PUBLIC HOLIDAY for Selangor and for once I'M NOT ON CALL!!! hahahahahahha.. No wonder it's soo hard to remember. It's unusual for me to enjoy normal off days like other normal people in a normal working environment, working normal hours. OH WAIT.. and why is my work so abnormal again? Eh it's normal for ME because I'm not normal.

hahahaha... gotcha! Don't worry..when I'm working my default mode is usually NORMAL :p

Close encounter

I have many reasons to be thankful for. Number 1 on my list today is a praise to God Almighty that the child survived. I have to count my blessings. Alhamdulillah..

Stacks and stacks of 'em on display *sigh* admirable
The feel of a comfortably worn shoes *sigh* so snug
There is always one perfect pair for every occasion

Shoes obsession
Went to the three day shoe sale
Stood in line under the hot sun
No luck on the first day
Left the place feeling contented on the second day
Went there on the third day.. just to say goodbye
Alas sun-baked skin but ah.. not everyday is a shoe sale day

Productive procrastination

Phew.. what an absence and that's what I called 'productive procrastination'! One and a half years!! The idea of starting a blog was so fresh and strong somewhere in January 2007. That was when I had too much time in my hands. I've now moved to a much busier place, work-wise that is. I left my 'laid-back hulu clinic' to work at a hospital in June 2007. I was initially posted to Paediatric Department where work is hectic everyday. Then to the Emergency Department where I can't even have my toilet break! I'm now at a much relaxing place called ENT which stands for easy no tension hahah!

I just got back from Bali 4 days ago. Went there with my travel freak friend from Uni days. Just the 2 of us girls, both clueless as to what Bali had to offer. Maybe it showed too much on our faces. I think we were the only Malaysians who got swindled in Bali.. I've asked around and everyone thinks Balinese are heaven-sent!! I won't despair though, would love to go there again with my significant other! But, that time around I'll make sure they know who's the boss!! hahah :p

I went to Clark's warehouse sale at Glenmarie Shah Alam during Friday's lunch break today. It was the first day of a 3 day sale. The queue went on forever.. and I was sweating like mad. Standing in line under the hot sun, people pushing and shoving, screaming and shouting and the sad thing is my size was mostly gone by the time I was granted entry!! Those left are that ones that I bought at their warehouse sale 2 years ago and I've hardly worn them. Boo..

Okie dokie cookie.. I think it's high time that I clean off the sweat and tears from my earlier rendezvous.
